Transfer contacts from one mobile phone to another new mobile phone

If you buy a new mobile phone you need to transfer all your contact data from old mobile  phone to new phone. Here is a handy guide on how you can transfer your contacts from one phone to another with minimum hassle.

If you have hundreds of contacts like most of us have, it becomes complicated to copy all mobile contacts one by one. We have listed five best methods to transfer contacts from one cell phone to another. Choose the method which is most suitable to you.

1. Transfer mobile contacts using mobile manufacturer’s Phone Software

This method is about using mobile phone manufacturer’s Phone Management Software, for e.g. Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Ovi Suite, Samsung Kies, Blackberry Desktop Manager, itunes for iPhone etc. Here we have taken example of Nokia PC Suite.

Transfer Contacts from Old Nokia mobile phone to a new Nokia mobile

  • Install Nokia PC suite or Nokia OVI suite.
  • Launch PC suite.
  • Connect your old phone to Nokia PC suite.
  • Click on contacts button.
  • Wait for all contacts to load.
  • Click on File>export>export to CSV file
  • Disconnect old phone and connect your new phone to Nokia PC suite.
  • Click on contacts button in PC suite.Click on File>import
  • Import the previously saved CSV file.
  • All your contacts will be copied to your new phone.

CSV file is “Comma Separated Value” file and can be opened with Wordpad, Notepad or MS-Excel or any spreadsheet program. You can transport your mobile phone contacts to a CSV file and import this CSV file into your new mobile phone. This will copy all mobile contacts from your old mobile phone to your new smartphone.

2.Transfer Contacts from any mobile phone to another mobile phone using Sim Card

This method can be used to transfer Contacts from any mobile phone to another mobile phone.
Though a little tedious, this method is easy and uncomplicated  for small list of saved contacts. It is ideal if  if you have around 200 contacts (a little less or a little more will do).
For e.g. lets say you have 300 contacts.
Copy first 200 contacts to sim card (most sim cards today support up to 200 contacts to be saved) .Take out the sim from old phone and insert it in the new phone. Copy the contacts from sim card to phone memory. Check if you have got all the contacts that you copied to sim into the new phone.
Take out the sim and insert back in old phone. Select next 100 contacts in your old phone. Repeat the same procedure to copy these 100 contacts to your new phone.
To successfully copy up to 700 contacts using Sim card method from a nokia phone to a black berry, it took us a little more than 20 minutes !!

3. Transfer Contacts from any mobile phone to another mobile phone using Outlook

Both smartphones must have support for syncing with MS-Outlook to transfer contacts. Most popular smartphones like Blackberry, Nokia, Samsung, HTC etc. support sync to Outlook. It is the best method to transfer contacts from a windows mobile phone to another windows phone .

Sync your contacts with Microsoft Outlook email client. Your mobile phone must support syncing with MS-Outlook for this option to work. Most smartphone support syncing with Outlook. For NOKIA phones this can be done through NOKIA PC suite or NOKIA OVI suite.

When All your Contacts are in Outlook then again connect your new phone to computer and sync it with Outlook. Outlook will copy all contacts to your new mobile phone. This method works very well for cellphones supporting sync with Microsoft Outlook.

4. Transfer Contacts from any mobile phone to another mobile phone using Google Mobile Sync Service

This method is best suited for contacts transfer between Android phones. Sync your old phone with Google mobile sync. This will transfer all your mobile contacts to Google Sync service. Now just sync your new phone to the same Google account and all your old mobile contacts will be copied to your new phone.

This service can be used to transfer mobile contacts from and to Blackberry, Nokia, iPhone or Windows mobile phones.

5. transfer Contacts from any mobile phone to another mobile phone using Everdroid service

You can also try free service Everdroid to transfer cell phone contacts. Just go to Everdroid website and sign up for a free account. You will have to provide your mobile model and phone number to transfer your contacts t Everdroid free service. Then sync your new phone also with the same account to transfer old mobile phone contacts to your new mobile contacts.
