1. Go to the menu and tap ‘Email‘

2. If you are setting up Email for the first time on your Nokia S60 device like Nokia C6, you will see the message:

“No mailbox defined. Define now?“

Press ‘Yes’.

Then your Start Screen will Appear.

Tap ‘Start’

3. Email setup wizard will appear. Press ‘New’.

4. ‘Preparing Setup’ screen will appear on your Nokia Mobile phone.

5. After a brief delay ‘Terms of Service‘ will appear. Press ‘Accept‘.

6. Your Nokia Mobile will ask for your Gmail email username and password.

7. Enter your email address.

8. Enter your Password.

9. Nokia Mobile phone will setup your mail box.

10. After a brief moment Email Settings window will appear. Configure your Gmail POP3 and Gmail SMTP settings as shown in the screenshot. Then press ‘Save‘.

11. Your Mailbox will now be loaded. You can switch folders like Inbox, Sent folder etc and receive and send emails from Nokia Mobile C6 or N8 on the go!!

You can similarly configure and use other email services like Yahoomail, Rediff mail, Nokia OVI mail, sify, Net4India, Indiatimes etc. on your Nokia mobile phone.

IRCTC launched app for Mobile Railway Reservation Ticket booking

Indian railways has introduced a mobile reservation app IRCTC Mobile which allows you to book Indian railway reservation tickets directly from your mobile phone.

The app has been launched by IRCTC in association with leading mobile commerce platforms like NGPAY, PAYMATE and ATOM. You can download the IRCTCMobile app from IRCTC website. When you go to the IRCTC website scroll down to the bottom of the IRCTC website. You will find a section named “Mobile Zone” on the website.

Clicking on “Mobile Zone” tab will open a drop down with links to download IRCTCMobile app. Click on any one of the three (i.e. either NGPAY, PAYMATE or ATOM) and a new window or tab will open. Just enter your mobile number on the opened window and click to get download link in your mobile via SMS to download IRCTCMobile on your mobile.

Download it and you can book online Indian railway reservation tickets through your mobile using this app. You need to be a registered user of IRCTC to use the service. How to set DNS server on your desktop or Laptop?

In response to our earlier post on “how to find the fastest DNS servers to fetch webpages superfast” many users ask us how to set DNS servers on their windows machines either desktop or laptop. Here is a short tutorial on setting DNS servers on your computer.

What is a DNS server?

DNS stands for Domain Name System and a server mapping domain names to relevant IP addresses on internet for a requesting client machine is called a DNS server. Domain names are internet names used to identify websites for example indigic.com is an internet domain name. Indigic.com runs on a webserver with an IP address written like 215.220.153.xxx to identify the correct address to reach indigic.com.

A DNS server helps to map thousands of website names to such web addresses (IP addresses) in its database and help internet users reach the correct webserver for their desired website. Detailed information is available here.

Steps to set DNS server in your windows desktop or Laptop/Netbook.

1. Click on the small network icon in the system tray in the bottom right corner of your desktop to open network properties of your “Local Area Connection”.

On Windows vista and Windows 7 on clicking that network icon a small balloon with different options will appear. Just click on “Network and Sharing center” and a new window will open with all your networking options. Click on “View Status” to open your “Local Area Connection”.

2. Click on “Properties” button to open a new pop up window.

3. Select “Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)” and hit the ”properties” button. If both ipv4 and ipv6 protocols are listed then select ipv4 option.

4. A new pop up window will open. Here you will find the option to set your DNS server. You can set two IP addresses : Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS servers.You can use either your ISP’s DNS server (most of the time ISP’s DNS servers are the default settings). You can also use OpenDNS servers or Google DNS. In short you can set any relevant DNS server IP as DNS setting.

5. Once DNS settings are done just hit OK and you are done.

How to repair broken MP4 video files for free using ‘File Repair’

File Repair is a freeware tool to repair or recover broken video files, Music files or document files. It is a powerful tool to repair a corrupt file broken due to download errors or virus attack etc. Repair a damaged MP4 video file to play it in any common video player software.

In an earlier post, we discussed about repairing broken or corrupt AVI video files. Sadly, no such specialized .mp4 repair tool is easily available for free.

File Repair is a free utility to help you repair simple MP4 files damaged due to virus attacks, application failures, system troubles or download errors. Broken mp4 files are repaired and saved with a different name to make them playable again. Simply download and install the File Repair freeware. Open a .mp4 file with File Repair. Click on ‘Start Repair‘ button and File Repair will start reading the file for damaged areas.

Though not every mp4 video file may be recovered using File Repair utility, it is still worth trying. In our test it repaired a mp4 video file which was unplayable due to download error. Also, File Repair is probably the only freeware tool available to repair mp4 video files.

Moreover, if the free File Repair software fails to repair or recover your broken mp4 file you can send that mp4 file to File Repair team as an email attachment via email to repair@filerepair1.com for manual repair. Though not mentioned on File Repair website but if the file is large you can also try to upload the file to a free service like Yousendit.com and send them the download link.
